Tai Chi is much more than just a martial art; it’s a holistic practice that cultivates balance, flexibility, and mindfulness. Originating in ancient China, this art form has stood the test of time and continues to captivate people around the world. During our Tai Chi program, you’ll learn a series of slow, flowing movements that seamlessly transition from one to another. These gentle movements, combined with deep breathing techniques, create a harmonious flow that helps release tension, increase energy levels, and enhance overall well-being.
The program consists of 10 classes, held every Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 AM at the Calgary Marlborough Community Centre. The first class is absolutely free for you to try! After that, the drop-in fee for each class is $5.00, or you can choose our package of ten classes for $40.
To join our classes, you will need to have a community association membership. If you don’t have one yet, you can easily obtain your membership here.
Tai Chi movements focus on body awareness, stability, and balance. Regular practice can help strengthen your core muscles, improve coordination, and reduce the risk of falls.
The slow, deliberate movements of Tai Chi promote relaxation and help calm the mind. By focusing on the present moment and synchronizing your breath with each movement, you’ll experience a sense of mental clarity and reduced stress.
Tai Chi movements gently stretch and open the muscles, promoting flexibility and joint mobility. Regular practice can help alleviate joint pain, stiffness, and improve overall range of motion.
Research has shown that regular Tai Chi practice can enhance immune function, leading to a stronger immune system and improved overall health.
To ensure the safety and well-being of all our members, we require that every participant fills out a waiver form before engaging in any of our programs. This includes both our yearly waiver and the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (Par-Q).
These forms are essential for assessing readiness for participation and help us maintain a safe environment for everyone.
Please remember to bring your completed forms before starting a new class or program.
